Candidate Pledge Program
The vast majority of Hoosiers support their public schools.
As part of our #VotePublicEd campaign, we are asking candidates and elected officials at the state level to pledge support for Indiana’s traditional public schools that serve over one million students across the state. The ICPE Candidate Pledge Program is a volunteer-led effort. Our goal is to encourage those who get elected to use their office to advance legislation and policies that support Indiana traditional public schools. Please note: Signing the ICPE Candidate Pledge does not constitute an endorsement by the Indiana Coalition for Public Education. The pledge simply allows candidates to publicly affirm their support for strong, equitable, and accountable public schools. Candidates are encouraged to also read our candidate guide.

ICPE Candidate Pledge 2026
As a member of the Indiana General Assembly, I pledge that I will:
☑️ Prioritize traditional public schools when funding education.
☑️ Support fiscally conservative spending caps on existing voucher programs.
☑️ Reject any further diversion of funds away from traditional public schools.
☑️ Preserve the authority of locally elected school board members to enact the will of local voters and act as stewards of taxpayer-funded assets.
☑️ Ensure a consistent standard of transparency, accountability, and oversight for all entities receiving K-12 funding from taxpayers.
