It has been stated that an estimated 100 or more school districts will have a referendum on the ballot this fall—a stunning number.

As communities fight to provide students with the schools they need and deserve, it begs the question: If it is the state’s constitutional obligation to fund public schools, why must we vote to tax ourselves on top of the taxes we already pay?
