It’s that time of year again! ICPE’s 15th Annual Meeting is just around the corner! All supporters (ICPE members, non-members and guests) are invited to join us on the north side of Indianapolis on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 2pm-4pm! We will gather again at 8550 Woodfield Crossing Blvd. 46240 (Washington Township Schools central office).

Here’s a link to the event on Facebook.

We are THRILLED that our featured guest speakers will be Dr. Michael Hicks, Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Dr. Gwen Kelley and Mr. Joel Hand. Our discussion will focus on the Indiana economy, education policy, and the issues shaping our public schools.

Dr. Michael Hicks is the George and Frances Ball Distinguished Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at Ball State University. He has held faculty positions at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Marshall University and the University of Tennessee. His writing is frequently published in the Indianapolis Star and the Indiana Capital Chronicle. He is also known for his Substack “The Country Economist.” He was recently featured on a nationwide education policy podcast called “Have You Heard.”

Dr. Jennifer McCormick served as Indiana’s last elected State Superintendent of Public Instruction (2017-2021), a recent gubernatorial candidate and an ICPE Board Member.

Dr. Kelley is the NAACP Indiana State Conference Education Chair. She has contributed significantly to public discourse on education equity. She has provided expert legislative testimony, highlighted structural challenges within school discipline policies, and advocated against bills that restrict teaching about diversity and race in Indiana classrooms.

Joel Hand is ICPE’s talented lobbyist and General Counsel who works tirelessly to voice our concerns to legislators at the Statehouse by meeting one-on-one, crafting testimony and speaking to organizations and our members around the state. Your memberships support Joel’s excellent work.

If your ICPE membership needs to be renewed or if you are new and would like to join to support our cause, you can do that at the meeting, but you can also save time and volunteer manpower by doing so online beforehand. We encourage you to join or renew, so we can continue this important work.

We’d love to see you in person, but if that’s not possible, we hope to make a recording/recap available sometime after the event. Please invite people in your networks to attend our event or check out our website. We always welcome new people to join us in our efforts to support public education! See you soon!
