There is always much to talk about at our ICPE Annual Meetings! We hope you can join us on the north side of Indianapolis at 2pm on August 26th. We will once again gather at 8550 Woodfield Crossing Blvd. 46240 (Washington Township Schools central office).

ICPE board member Dr. Jennifer McCormick loves to ask the question: How does this help children? She will discuss the current educational landscape and how we can put kids first.

It’s an excellent question we should always ask when policies and laws are created. Although we are more than a year away from the election of Indiana’s next governor, Politico says: ”The Indiana Republican primary for governor is turning into one of the most crowded and competitive early contests of 2024, so we’ll talk about that, too.

ICPE lobbyist Joel Hand will review what happened in the last legislative session and give us a sense of what might be coming in 2024.

ICPE board member Pat Payne (Director, IPS Diversity Equity & Inclusion Office) will explain educational equity and how to ensure ALL children thrive.

Julie Chambers (Attorney & Former HSE School Board Member) is a parent and former school board member who will explain what happens to kids when extremists take over your schools.

We’ll touch on how new policies (book banning, pronouns, universal vouchers and governors who want to re-write history among them). And, depending on your school district you may have new school board members who are making this a very different school year.

That brings us back to the question, How does this help children?

Last, but certainly not least, it always feels like home to be among your public school advocates and friends!

If your ICPE membership needs to be renewed, you can do that at the meeting, but you can also do so online before the meeting. We encourage you to make an additional donation, so we can continue this important work.
